FORESTRY AUDIT

Auditing is a procedure used in several corporate areas. It is a detailed analysis of a specific activity in order to assess whether it is being carried out in accordance with previously established planning or guideline. In the forestry area, it is used to assess whether the activities are being carried out effectively and adequate to the company’s objectives.

The Forestry Audits are carried out to verify the conformity of different aspects of activities inherent to the management of the forestry activity, such as inventories, timber expedition, silvicultural and management practices, supply or promotion contracts, among others. The audit must be carried out by a technically trained team, independent and not linked to the auditee, thus guaranteeing suitability and exemption from the results.

Forest audits are carried out whenever it is desired to verify the conformity of a given forest operation, which may be first-party audits, that is, contracted by the company that owns the forest in order to assess the conformity of its operations, or it may be an audit third party, organized by a third party interested in the process, for example, a due diligence promoted by an investor interested in the acquisition of a forestry asset.
